Degree and area of specialization: BS or BA degree in computer science or related field (or relevant experience.) CompTIA Linux+, CompTIA Security+, RHCE are a DEFINITE PLUS!
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: A minimum of 2 years work experience in administering Linux or Unix computer systems. A thorough knowledge of Unix/Linux system administration practices is essential, including installation, maintenance, backup and recovery and security. Building open source software from source. Preference will be given to candidates having experience with scripting languages (i.e., Shell, Perl, PHP), Apache, LDAP and relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL. Familiarity with Fedora Core and CentOS Linux a plus.
Strong documentation skills and verbal and written communication skills are required. The ability to work as part of an IS Team supporting multiple applications and sites is very important. Prior experience working with customers in a hosting and dedicated server environment is a definate plus.
Principal duties:
- Administration of "In House" network and servers used to run our corporate network and select client systems
- Installation and configuration of network equipment, installed "on location" in our corporate offices.
- Answer incoming tickets from our Support Department from dedicated server and hosting customers.
- Participation of short and long range network planning.
- Provide hardware, operating system and application software support for Linux servers.
- Insure the security of servers and confidential data and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Additional Information: Some evening and weekend work required. Will carry company supplied cell phone.
